Aid to Ukraine affects Israeli defense – The Telegraph

Western assistance to Ukraine in defending itself from Russian missile attacks has had a significant impact on the distribution of defense resources, particularly interceptor missiles.

The Telegraph writes about this.

Ukraine and Israel depend on the United States for their air defense capabilities, and with these scarce resources, the countries face difficult decisions. Western countries have spent large amounts of missiles to protect Ukrainian cities, leading to the need to use them more carefully to help Israel.

Experts note that Israel has to make decisions about how to spend its existing interceptors. In some cases, Israel may decide to let the missiles pass if they do not pose a serious threat to people or key infrastructure, analysts said. This will allow the country to conserve ammunition for more dangerous attacks in the future.

At the same time, there are fears that Iran could take advantage of its weakened interceptor stockpile and launch a massive attack on Israel.

Iran launched around 180 ballistic missiles at Israel and, although most of them were successfully intercepted, some managed to penetrate air defenses. This raised questions about the effectiveness with which Israel’s air defense systems, considered among the most powerful in the world, were operating.

Experts stress that it is too early to draw definitive conclusions about the performance of Israeli air defenses, but these strikes indicate that Iran has begun using more advanced weapons, such as hypersonic ballistic missiles, which are much more difficult to intercept.

Analysts say this type of weapon could pose a particular threat to Israel, as modern air defenses struggle to cope with missiles flying at such high speeds.

Israel and its allies are closely monitoring the development of the situation and, as experts emphasize, each new round of conflict may require even more significant resources to repel attacks.

Previously, Kursor wrote that Ukraine condemned Iran’s attack on Israel.

kyiv supported operational measures taken by Israel’s allies and partners aimed at minimizing the consequences of rocket attacks.
