During his stay in New York, the minister plans to meet with the head of Venezuelan diplomacy, Yvan Gil.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares held a meeting at the United Nations on Tuesday with his counterparts from Brazil, Colombia and Mexico to analyze the situation in Venezuela.
Albares reported the meeting on social media, stressing that they exchanged views on Venezuela “and on ways to advance dialogue, democracy and human rights,” but without offering further details.
During his stay in New York this week to participate in the UN High-Level Week, the minister also plans to meet with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil.
Their intention is to request information about the situation of the two Spaniards detained in Venezuela, to know where they are and what they are accused of.

Albares coincided with the meeting with the Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena, amid the controversy over the exclusion of King Felipe VI from the inauguration of the Mexican president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum.
