Albares thanks Edmundo González for defending “the truth against slander” after denying Spain’s coercion

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, thanked the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, Edmundo González Urrutia, for defended the truth against the slander against Spainafter denying having been forced into exile by the Spanish government.

The leader of the opposition in Venezuela and candidate for the presidency of his country in the elections of July 28 issued a statement in Madrid on Thursday in which he clarified that he had not been forced by the Spanish government to be transferred and granted asylum in that country.

González Urrutia emphasizes that all the modalities of his transfer “were supervised and facilitated directly by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Alabares, ensuring at all times their well-being and their freedom of decision”.
