THE natural disaster caused by DANA This has left enormous suffering for many families in Valencia, but it has also left beautiful stories, like that of Alejandro and Amparo, a couple from Aldaia who have a daughter with cerebral palsy.
The night of the flood, her daughter was sleeping when water began to enter the room. At that point, Alejandro and Amparo decided to lift the mattress and keep it on the ground so that their daughter would not fall into the water.
“We thought we were going to drown and that my daughter would fall and drown too“, says Amparo. They remained in this situation for nine hours. “We were from eight o’clock in the afternoon to five o’clock in the morning“explains Alexandro.
The story had a happy ending thanks to a few neighbors coming to his aid. “At five o’clock, The neighbors broke down the door and we managed to get out.“, says Amparo, who assures that “the hours were endless”.
