Alert in Tarragona to take extreme precautions due to heavy rain

The Civil Protection of the Generalitat will maintain the alert of the special emergency plan against flooding (Inuncat) until Friday due to forecasts of rain in Terres de l’Ebre (Tarragona). Furthermore, emergency services sent a message to the residents of this area, asking them to take extreme precautions in the face of the storm.

This Thursday, showers could exceed 100 liters per m2 in 24 hours, and will mainly affect the Baix Camp and Priorat regions, with up to 40 liters per m2 in 30 minutes. For his part, the Meteorological Service of Catalonia indicated that this afternoon the rains are heavy and are discharging with high intensity in Montsià, Baix Ebre and Terra Alta (Tarragona).

According to the Fire Brigade, until noon, They had only received a dozen incident notifications in the above-mentioned territories. Most of them were slightly affected by the floods. Among these, in a Tortosa Schoolwhose roof was partially damaged.

As detailed yesterday by the Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, Catalonia maintains the alert activated against heavy rains across DANA to “minimize risks”. The Generalitat calls for people to lead a “normal life”, while maintaining precautions, in the face of the accumulation of water, the flooding of rivers and the rains which will continue for the next few hours in the territory.

Parlon also stressed that “the only concern now is the accumulation of water and the way in which it is channeled”, although the government remains in contact with the different municipalities to “manage the situation”. Over the past day, several metro lines in the Catalan capital have also been affected by the rains, as well as several bus and railway lines.
