Alicante Provincial Fire Service control posts reduce the scope of 200 fires this summer

The rapid and effective intervention of the fixed and mobile control posts of the Firefighters of the Deputation from Alicante made this possible summer reduce the severity and scope of closure risks 200 fires declared in the province. In total, there are assets three fixed retaining deviceslocated in Santa Pola -Baix Vinalopó-, Pilar de la Horadada -Vega Baja- and Xàbia -Marina Alta-, which deals with emergencies that arise in said municipalities and in their closest perimeter; four retention agents itinerant which, in turn, cover the operational areas of Marina Baixa, Vinalopó, Vega Baja, Montaña and L’Alacantí; and different night control posts which, faced with the threat of dry storms, move to forest areas where there is a risk of lightning that could cause a fire.

“These units are part of the special device that the Fire Consortium of the Provincial Council of Alicante launches every summer in order to strengthen its service and guarantee a more powerful and effective intervention,” Cano stressed.

In this sense, the MP specified that this summer service, which benefited from an extraordinary investment of 900,000 eurosalso considered the incorporation of a second helicopter and, as a novelty this year, the use of drones for forest surveillance.
