ALLEGATION OF IMPACT on master’s thesis at the university – Reaction of the Rectorate

A shocking accusation about Ganja State University (GDU) has spread on social media. It was observed that professors at the university’s Geography faculty demanded bribes from university students, saying “you don’t know how to write, you will fail in your defense.”

Oku.Az reports that the claim also states that no literature or plans for writing master’s dissertations were provided.

We contacted Ganja State University regarding the matter.

Head of the University Press Service Gunay Mammadova Read.AzIn his statement he emphasized that the claim is unfounded.

“These claims spread on social media are baseless. The claim was shared anonymously and we are not sure if it was a student from Ganja State University who wrote it. Because we do not have a Faculty of Geography. The name of the Faculty we have is the Faculty of History and Geography.

Furthermore, neither the dean nor the department received any appeals regarding the issues raised in the lawsuit. If students have such a complaint, they should definitely contact the appropriate dean or department at the university and we will investigate.

I would like to mention that the rector of the university, Yusif Yusibov, held a meeting with the deans of the faculties and heads of departments to support students in the preparation of their master’s thesis.

In accordance with the requirements, he ordered to provide in advance a list of literature, a plan and direction for the selection of the topic for the master’s dissertation and the organization of preparatory work. “At the same time, he warned the deans of the faculty and heads of departments to avoid any negative situations during the preparation and defense of the master’s thesis,” said G. Mammadova.
