Allowing Ukraine to fire missiles at Russia no longer makes sense – EADaily, September 14, 2024 – Politics News, Ukraine News

Authorizing Kiev to use long-range British Storm Shadow missiles in Russia will not affect the situation on the battlefield, as Russian troops have already moved most of their fighter jets inland, the Financial Times reported this on September 13, citing Western officials.

“Missiles are not a strategic panacea for the military-strategic situation in Ukraine” — the publication cites one of the sources.

The second source drew attention to the fact that, despite the movement of most of the Russian Armed Forces’ fighter aircraft inland, which added “rigidity to the Russian system”, this move also reduced the effectiveness of Western weapons.

Moreover, the authors of the article continue, the possible permission of Western countries to the kyiv regime to fire British missiles deep into Russia is unlikely to change the position of Germany, which has long refused to transfer its Taurus missiles to Ukraine. These missiles have a range of 500 km, almost twice that of Storm Shadow and ATACMS, which were previously transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Izvestia recalls.
