The Amagintza Association, breastfeeding and maternity support groupdenounced that Navarre is the only community without milk bank for premature babies.
“As agents of social change, we wish to inform the population that the Government of Navarra, through the Ministry of Health, ultimately he did not want to put in the means to create a milk bank in Navarre”, they lamented in a press release.
“Have one increases survival and improves quality of life of creatures born entities of time. Its start-up requires an initial investment of around 100,000 euros and its maintenance requires a small annual personnel expenditure,” they add.
From Amagintza tried to obtain the government of Navarre was aware of this need and Navarre was one of only two communities that did not have a breast milk bank. Currently, Navarra is already the only autonomous community without this resourcethey pointed out.
As indicated by the association, an agreement was reached between the political groups so that the Foral Community will have this service, however, the 2025 draft budget does not provide any budget line for the creation of the milk bank in Navarre.
“This decision leaves Navarrese babies and families in unequal conditions and rights with regard to babies born in the rest of the Spanish autonomous communities”, they concluded.
