A 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Tatvan district of Bitlis province, Türkiye.
Oku.AzAccording to an article on Sondakika.com, this was reported by the Turkish Emergency Management Agency (AFAD).
According to reports, the earthquake that occurred at 2:50 p.m. was recorded at a depth of 7 kilometers.
The earthquake was felt in Van and other surrounding regions. The population became alarmed and took to the streets.
It is worth noting that the well-known Turkish geologist Naci Görür warned about the region where Bitlis is located during his previous assessments.
“There are cities sitting on barrels of dynamite,” the geologist said.
“That line has the potential to cause large earthquakes. It will not be a big surprise for me if there are earthquakes between Adiyaman-Hakkari, on the Arabian platform, i.e. in cities like Bitlis, Urfa, Diyarbakir, Cizre, Nusaybin, Batman, etc. I do not know the strength or the right time,” said Naci Görür.
