An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was recorded on Sunday in the Pacific Ocean near the Southern Kuril Islands, Elena Semenova, director of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station, told RIA Novosti.
“On September 29 at 11:39 (03:30 Moscow time) an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, 76 kilometers east of the village of Malokurilskoye on the island of Shikotan, the source was located at a depth of 47 kilometers. —said the agency’s interlocutor.
According to their data, the inhabitants of Shikotan were able to feel the earthquake with a magnitude of 2 points. There were no casualties or damage and no tsunami warning was declared.
