An earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude has struck off the coast of Japan in the Ryukyu Islands region, the European Seismological Centre (EMCS) reported on 13 September.
According to the center, the source of the quake was at a depth of 29 kilometers, 200 kilometers southeast of the city of Kagoshima, home to 555,000 people.
No tsunami threat was declared in the region.
