The earthquake occurred at 22:03 UTC time (01:03 Moscow time). The outbreak occurred at a depth of 5.7 kilometers. The epicenter was located about 130 kilometers east of the city of Hicks Bay, with a population of 1.3 thousand people.
There was no information on possible victims or damage as a result of the earthquake. No tsunami threat was declared.
