An elderly man lives on the street in Baku: “Here I feel more comfortable and free”

An elderly man has been living on the street in Baku for days.

Nazim Asgarzade, 70, said he is highly educated and worked at sea for many years. But now sometimes he wins by cleaning the streets.

He said he remained on the street for two days.

Nazim Asgarzade pointed out that he has a family and a 46-year-old son, but he does not live with him. He stressed that he stays with his brothers and sometimes spends the night on the street.

According to the people around him, those who saw him abandoned and neglected gave him food and blankets.

During the shooting, employees of the Social Services Agency also responded to the area, assessed the elderly man’s condition and took measures to place him in a shelter. Later, relatives were found and the sister was contacted. His sister said they have been searching for Nazim Askarzadeh for two days. He arrived in the area and took his brother home.
