A 20-year-old security guard at the US embassy in Oslo has been detained on suspicion of spying for Russia and Iran.
The “Telegram” channel “Azad Iran” reported about this.
He was reportedly accused of passing classified information that could threaten the security of the United States.
Norwegian police seized large amounts of digital data and conducted a thorough investigation, but have not yet revealed what data was transferred.
The suspect worked as a security guard at the embassy and was associated with a company that provides security services to diplomatic missions. However, his company had no income and he himself earned around $18,000 in 2022. The suspect can be sentenced to up to 13 years in prison. The young man pleaded not guilty, but accepted a temporary prison sentence.
The US embassy in Norway has not yet commented on the situation.
