The “Palencia 2023” protocol created to promote an axis of development of the agri-food sector in the province of Palencia will invest 30 million euros in a logistics platform, the “Incubatech” building and a vertical agri-food accelerator.
Three projects that were discussed this Monday during a follow-up meeting attended by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, and the Minister of Mobility and Digital Transformation, José Luis Sanz Merino, and which was also attended by representatives of the municipalities of Magaz de Pisuerga and Villamuriel de Cerrato, as well as the University of Valladolid, the Chamber of Commerce, CEOE, CETECE and ITAGRA, as well as representatives of all companies who have signed and adhered to the protocol.
Fernández Carriedo explained that “these three relevant actions” will be carried out in four areas of action. The first, industrial and logistical development, will promote a Palencia Logistics Platform which, with an investment of 23 million euroswill be located in the town of Villamuriel de Cerrato, next to the Renault Supplier Park.
“It will have 830,000 meters”, a land reserve of ten hectares for a future railway terminal and a secure and protected parking lot for ‘AESP’ trucks of five hectares for “Connecting axis businesses as an export baseaccumulation of stocks and connection of international markets”, he underlined, referring to an area where “major rail, energy and road infrastructures converge to achieve optimal results”.
Likewise, the “Incubatech” building “for technological development, innovation and entrepreneurship” will be created, with an investment of six million euros, in the Magaz industrial zone of Pisuerga, on a plot of 15,784 meters square and with a buildable area of 12,627 to accommodate startups and companies in the agri-food sector.
The building has an area of 3,800 square meters and four pavilions, where ITAGRA and CETECE will be relocated, as well as an area of common spaces plus complementary areas that will house greenhouses and other services.
The last axis “will promote the connection between large companies and small startups” since, with the UVA, the vertical agri-food accelerator will be launched, which will allow boost new startups of entrepreneurs and businessmen in the first five years of growth and provide a support service to emerging innovative companies so that they are able to solve the challenges proposed by consolidated companies in the agri-food sector.
The Protocol to promote the “Palencia 2030 Platform, smart specialization in the agri-food sector” was signed on November 9, 2022 by the Government of Castile and León, the Provincial Delegation of Palencia, the University of Valladolid and various companies and entities in the agri-food sector: Agropal, Cabo Vírgenes Spain, Europraliné, Manufacturing and Maintenance, Galletas Gullón, Galletas Siro, Industrial Matricera Palentina, Productos Solubles, Seda Outspan Iberia, Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Palencia and CEOE Empresas from Palencia. Likewise, Apetic, Enerpal Group, ID Forest Applied Biotechnology, Mercapacífico, Montajes Morelba and Valle de San Juan joined the company.
