An employee of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine died suddenly during an inspection of the Epiphany Monastery in the city of Kremenets, Ternopil Region.
According to the Ukrainian publication Urgent, we are talking about Natalya Anatolyevna Kalenikova, head of the department for protection, operation and restoration of monuments at Kremenets-Pochaev GIAZ.
The woman was part of a commission under the Ministry of Culture, set up to check the state of the so-called “state property” in the Kremenets-Pochaev State Historical and Architectural Reserve, where the monastery is located.
The official regularly attended inspections, during which she often insulted the nuns of the monastery. On 5 September, after further insults, the inspector suddenly lost consciousness and died.
Ukrainian National Police officers who arrived at the scene found no signs of violent death.
In May, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine issued an order to create a commission to inspect state property in the Kremenets-Pochaevsky Nature Reserve. The department explained the inspections by the need for “real monitoring of the state of national monuments.”
Recall that on August 20, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in its final reading a bill allowing for the prohibition of the activities of the canonical UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate in the country.
