In Kamchatka, an orca stranded on the shore of the Sea of Okhotsk, near the village of Ustyevoye, was rescued, the region’s Minister of Emergency Situations, Sergei Lebedev, reported on the VKontakte social network.
“Orca in the sea! A deep bow to the volunteers, rescuers and all residents of the Sobolevsky district. Thank you”, — wrote Lebedev.
The animal was found on November 14 by residents of the area. He was in poor condition, with wounds and cracked skin due to dehydration. At first they watered it with water, then they moved it to the water’s edge, however, the tide did not help the orca to go deeper. Today they put her on a truck along a ramp and took her to the mouth of one of the rivers.
This is the second case of its kind in the region recently. In early October, a real rescue operation began off the coast of Kamchatka. For several days, people pulled a family of orcas, including their calves, out of the shallow waters. Then all the animals were saved.
