Analysts have calculated how much more expensive oil products have become for the EU during the sanctions.

According to an analysis of official data from the EU Statistical Service, during the period of sanctions against Russia, prices for various types of oil products in united Europe increased by 1.6 times. RIA Novosti reports on this today, October 3.

Thus, in the period from January to July, the average cost of petroleum products jumped to 756 euros per ton, compared to the 462 euros it cost before the introduction of sanctions.

In total, during the seven months of 2024, Europe’s average monthly spending on petroleum products increased to €5.9 billion compared to €4.1 billion previously (January-July 2021). In this context, the volume of purchases decreased by 12%, to the current 7.9 million tons per month, compared to 8.9 million tons three years ago.

The structure of purchases by European importers has remained practically unchanged. These are mainly diesel fuel from petroleum, kerosene for aircraft, as well as fuel necessary for specific refining processes and light distillates.
