Andalusia Flood Emergency Plan activated due to heavy rains

Heavy rainfall in the province of Almería forced the activation of the Special Emergency Plan for the risk of Floods in Andalusia in the pre-emergency phase. Heavy rains have already caused traffic to be interrupted on the A-7 towards Malaga, at the ITV.

The plan was activated following the yellow and orange alerts forecast for the next few days east of Almeria. For now, the 112 Emergency Coordination Center will monitor the weather phenomenon. Alerts will move to the western part as the week progresses. Alerts are expected until Saturday.

From Wednesday November 13, a cold air mass will enter the peninsula and it is very likely that it will be isolated because a DANA or cold storm isolated areas, particularly in the Mediterranean area, which leads to an even greater drop in temperatures.

Heavy rain is expected there. In the case of Malaga or the Andalusian Levant, up to 180 liters per square meter. For this reason it has already been declared orange alert in these areas from early Wednesday morning until the end of the day.

A slight increase in temperatures is expected for Thursday, which will continue at least until the end of the week. Despite this increase, the rainfall outlook will remain very similar. The risk of precipitation will remain until Sunday, in principle with the same intensity. The alert will move from east to westso far, heavy rain is expected through Saturday.

Clouds will arrive at the equator this week, leaving rain in Almería, Jaén, Granada, Córdoba and Malaga, spreading to the rest of the provinces in the following days. The first incidents occurred at kilometer 831 of the A-7, in the province of Almería, near Balanegra. In the same way, Incidents due to accumulation of water were detected on the AL-3303 road in El Ejido.

From 112 to call to remain calmto act with caution and follow all recommendations and protocols in the event of flooding.
