The suspension of negotiations on the reform of the immigration law by the PP has the support of the main autonomous community governed by this party and one of the countries most affected by the phenomenon of irregular immigration. “The Spanish government did not tell the truth, it did not tell all the information it had. “We must be serious about immigration policy,” explained Andalusian government spokesperson Carolina España.
The Junta de Andalucía has not officially received any proposal requiring that increase its places intended to accommodate immigrant minors to adjust them to a distribution between communities based on population (there are currently 645) and therefore avoids a direct position on the issue. But he notes that before talking about this issue, there are other issues to resolve.
Concretely, the Andalusian Government continues to highlight the 522 minors who arrived in the community as adults but once here it was proven, through the prosecution, that they were under 18 years old. At that time, they came under the supervision of the autonomous community without being recognized as transfers by the central government and therefore without budget allocation.
“On issues like immigration, always we have an outstretched hand, “But it is impossible that they are not giving us all the information or that there are people infiltrating us through the back door,” the government spokesperson said.
In this sense, the Junta de Andalucía warns that an increase in permanent places, compared to the 645 currently available, does not correspond to the usual needs of the autonomous community. In fact, according to the Ministry of Social Inclusion, in recent years these autonomous systems have reached 50% and currently they have overflowed, according to their story, due to the arrival of 522 minors who arrived as adults in the autonomous system. community.
Andalusia also maintains two demands in relation to the process of reforming the immigration law. On the one hand, he asks that the autonomous community has the same consideration as the Canary Islands or Ceuta so that if at any point, as happened in 2018, it experiences a migration crisis that overwhelms its resources, a contingency plan is also activated. Secondly, it requires that in terms of economic resources, for Andalusia, the same criteria are applied as for the Canary Islands or Ceuta, given that it is also a border community.
