Andalusia will have a second appeal for the youth rent bonus with 34 million euros

Andalusia will convene a second edition of the Young Rental Plan program through which aaid of 250 euros per month for young people who rent an apartment. This was agreed by the Ministry of Housing with all the autonomous communities, including Andalusia, during the sectoral meeting held in Madrid and in which the Andalusian councilor Rocío Díaz was present.

In this second edition, the central government distributed 200 million euros between the autonomous communities, half of which in the first edition of 2022, of which Andalusia received 34.2 million euros, or 17% of the total. The percentage is therefore practically equivalent to the population.

The ministry, through its head Isabel Rodríguez, nevertheless invited all autonomous communities to supplement the funds provided by the State with own resources, a possibility which is not foreseen at the moment in Andalusia.

The Andalusian councilor voted in favor of developing a new appeal and the money allocated to Andalusia, although she did so with nuances: maintains its disagreement with the general bases of the program to which the Junta de Andalucía attributes the management problems of the first appeal which was launched in 2022 and which has not yet been fully paid to young beneficiaries.

“The government has once again ignored the suggestions we made to thavoid unnecessary obstacles initially. The first edition ended in an administrative nightmare for most communities and particularly for the candidates. If they want the money to reach young people soon, they must simplify the process, even if it means changing the current decree,” explained the Andalusian Minister of Housing after the meeting.

The management of the Young Rental Bonus by the Junta de Andalucía has been one of the main arguments of criticism of the opposition in recent years and has even led to setting up a relevant platform who repeatedly demanded payment of sums due and resolution of files.
