Andalusian presence in federal committee strengthens Espadas’ position

If the election of Seville and the presidency of the Federal Congress for Juan Espadas were gestures by Ferraz that guaranteed that at least for the moment they were not going to promote any alternative candidacy, the composition of the provincial executive and the federal committee is understood by the environment of the current Secretary General as another relevant movement.

After a somewhat complex start to the congress due to previous declarations from critical sectors, due to the proposals expressed by several provincial leaders to postpone their position while waiting for the end of the federal congress and due to a speech which, for one part of the PSOE, did not live up to expectations, the composition of the federal management bodies compensated for these doubts.

The composition of the Federal Executive practically in the Andalusian sphere leaves everything the same, with María Jesús Montero, Alfonso Rodríguez Gómez de Celis and Juanfran Serrano as main references. It maintains the same number of members of the Andalusian federation and the new additions are closer to Espadas’ positions.

But even more symbolic is the composition of the federal committee in which the official provincial structures which are essential to the future of the regional congress are reinforced. Jaén and Seville include their two organizing secretaries. And in the case of Cádiz, the general secretary of the PSOE of Cádiz, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, leaves this body, with whom there has already been a total break with the leadership of Juan Espadas. And yet, between a trusted person from the regional management, like Irene García. Also joining the group was the provincial secretary of Córdoba, Rafi Crespín, who, despite his public doubts this week, subsequently maintained a close relationship with Espadas. Added to this is another circumstance: no critical voice has been raised in the main bodies of the federal PSOE, such as that of Mario Jiménez.

Hence the satisfaction shown by Juan Espadas after his meeting with the Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, on Saturday afternoon, and his words to the media alluding to the fact that “there are Espadas for a while.”

Added to this is that the secretary general of the main Andalusian group, Javier Fernández, sent a clear message at the close of the congress: “You have all my support and obviously you have had and have my commitment and my political support.”, he emphasized in statements to the media.

Javier Fernández also defends that it is essential in the coming weeks that the provincial directorates act in a coordinated manner and that there is no confrontation between them over the different candidates, beyond the fact that there are internal divisions in many of them. Especially in Cádiz.
