Andrey Sibiga became the new head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada deputies have approved the candidacy of Andrei Sibiga for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He replaced Dmitry Kuleba in this post.

This was announced by the Popular Party deputy on Thursday, September 5. Max Buzhansky on your Telegram channel. He clarified that the decision to appoint Sibiga was supported by 258 deputies with the necessary 226 votes.

Sibig will replace Dmitry Kuleba, who has headed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry since March 2020. He resigned the day before.

Kuleba’s statement was considered and approved by parliament at the same meeting of the Verkhovna Rada: 240 MPs voted in favour, one against and 45 abstained.

The new head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was born on January 1, 1975 in the town of Zborov, Ternopil region. Graduated from Lviv State University. Ivan Franko, received specialties in the field of international relations, is a lawyer and an English translator.

Since 1997 he has worked in the Department of State and Legal Affairs of the Contract Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in 2008-2012 – Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland, in 2016-2021 – Ambassador to Turkey. Later he became Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and in 2024 – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
