Anger at Valencia City Hall following racist tweets from Vox councilor

The plenary session in Valencia was the scene of a big fight following xenophobic messages on the social network X from Cecilia Herrero, a Vox advisor. Angela Pedraza, representative of an NGO that works for the integration of migrants, criticized the “twenty racist messages sent” by the councilor of the far-right party, after which her party colleague and deputy mayor of Valencia, Juanma Badena, interrupted Pedraza with her shouts: “We will not tolerate any insults to any advisor present at this plenary session!”

At that point, a socialist councilor responded to the Vox politician by looking at “Twitter”, after which Badena touched the socialist’s shoulderAnd the screams came back. But things don’t stop there. And the deputy mayor of Valencia has called his opposition racist and anti-Semitic and defended the white rose, symbol of the fight against the Nazis.

For their part, the socialists asked him to stop using this symbol: “A fascist like you can’t use it.”. Hearing these words, Badena decided to leave the plenary session, but not before hearing some words from the socialist councilor addressed to him: “If you, like a good coward, want to leave, the door is open. I told you what, you are a fascist.”

However, the Vox politician returned to ask the socialist to correct his remarks, to which he responded by telling him that he would call him a “fascist as many times as he deems necessary.” At the end of the plenary session, Badena denounced that “insults were poured out and coercion,” and announced that it would take legal action.

Controversial tweets

The controversy arose following a collection of racist messages by Vox advisor Celia Herrero. In her posts, Herrero stated that “Sánchez sold Spain to the ‘Moors'”, or that “they say that ‘the ‘Moors’ are invading us'”.Enough of sponsoring the “moor”; national resources for the Spanish,” he defended himself in another tweet.
