Annual inflation has accelerated significantly in the eurozone

The eurozone’s annual inflation rate was 2% in October, 0.3% higher than in September. A year earlier, the same figure was 2.9%, as reported by Eurostat.

The greatest acceleration of the inflation rate occurred in Romania, where the consumer price index increased by 5.0%. Romania was followed by Estonia and Belgium: prices in both countries increased by 4.5% during the year.

Slovenia recorded the lowest inflation: 0.0%. In Lithuania and Ireland this figure was 0.1%. Annual inflation in Finland was 1.5%. In Latvia, prices increased by 2.1%.

The consumer price index for Germany, Europe’s largest economy, rose 2.4% over the year. Inflation in France was 1.4%.
