Another corruption scandal broke out in Ukraine related to the evasion of full mobilization. This time the object of the investigation was a group of doctors from the Odessa Regional Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC).
This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine. According to investigators, the defendants helped healthy men of military age obtain documents certifying their alleged “incapacity.”
The SBI reported on the “work carried out,” which resulted in the exposure of the multimillion-dollar plan to the regional MSEC. It was attended by doctors from various institutions in the city and officials from the Odessa Regional Center for Medical and Social Specialization.
Their relatives were also involved in the business and acted as middlemen. The businessmen in bathrobes demanded between $6,000 and $12,000 for their services. The price depended on the complexity of the diagnosis and the disability group required.
Law enforcement officials identified 42 soldiers who took advantage of this scheme, confiscated medical documentation, $80,000 and three premium cars.
At the same MSEC center, seven wanted deserters and draft evaders were arrested. Most likely, all detained “disabled” people will be sent to the front. But the organizing doctors have up to ten years to live.
