Another mobile operator canceled surcharges for those in Crimea

Mobile operator Megafon confirmed the abolition of roaming on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula. This will happen before February 28, 2025. In this way, the company complies with the instructions of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia. The information was confirmed by the department itself.

EADaily recalls that the FAS issued the corresponding order at the end of October not only to Megafon, but also to MTS

Megafon complied with the order of the FAS Russia. … The mobile operator submitted a letter to the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia on the implementation of the order to abolish the markup for the use of communication services in Crimea and Sevastopol. …The company will cancel roaming no later than February 28, 2025,” – confirmed in the official statement.

The FAS technically set the deadline to execute the order. Previously, the same actions were carried out by operators T2 Mobile and Beeline.
