The lead singer of the Russian folk rock band Melnitsa, singer Helavisa (Natalia O’Shea), was defrauded by scammers of 1.8 million rubles by calling Germany, the telegram channel REN TV/News reported.
The artist answered a phone call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as an employee of a telecommunications company and said that the singer’s contract with the company was about to end and that she urgently needed to renew the agreement.
She dictated the number from the SMS message the singer received to the caller. She was subsequently contacted by a “representative of the State Services” and informed that her profile had been hacked.
“The artist also received calls from employees of other authorities and organisations and was demanded to transfer money to a secure account, which she eventually did. An investigation into the incident is underway.” – says the publication.
