Channel 14 reported that the Italian hotel Garnì Ongaro recently refused to accept young Israelis. The hotel reportedly said the State of Israel was “committing genocide” and added that Israelis were “not welcome” on its property. The news follows a rise in anti-Semitic incidents against Israelis around the world.
Two young Israelis booked a hotel room through Booking.com but received a cancellation notice. “Good morning,” the hotel’s message read, “we would like to inform you that the Israeli people responsible for the genocide are not welcome at our property. If you wish to cancel your reservation, please do so; we will be happy to assist you with free cancellation.”
A young Israeli woman named Shira said: “We were furious. We canceled the order immediately. We didn’t think we would encounter something like this.”
A journalist from Channel 14 called the hotel live. The hotel receptionist answered first, but after learning that Golan was Israeli and being asked, “Do you have problems with Israelis?” she hung up. The journalist tried to call again several times, but received no response.
The journalist called for action: “What a shame! We cannot remain silent. A hotel that rejects Israelis, claiming that we are committing ‘genocide’? In my opinion, this hotel should be closed by the Italian government and “You should file a major lawsuit against him.” .
Israel’s Foreign Ministry, headed by Minister Gideon Sa’ar, said the incident would be investigated.
