“The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is approaching a decisive moment. There is a desire to reach an agreement.”
Oku.Az This was stated today by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, at the press conference held in Baku within the framework of COP29.
He noted that the issues agreed upon by the parties are increasingly specific:
“However, disagreements remain and a serious effort is needed to close discussions.”
A. Guterres said that he has just returned from the G20 summit in Rio and that COP29 was an important part of the agenda there:
“It is essential to achieve an ambitious and balanced package based on a new funding target for all outstanding issues. Failure is not an option.”
