The president of CEOE Castilla y León, Santiago Apariciourged the employers’ association of Salamanca on Friday to call elections “as soon as possible” to avoid a power vacuum in this province after that the president of CEOE-Cepyme Salamanca, Diego García, presented his resignation with its entire executive committee after losing the vote in the Assembly where unification with the Confederation of Businessmen of Salamanca (CES) was debated.
In statements collected by Ep, Aparicio clarified that it was an “internal matter” of a CEOE organization of Castilla y León and ruled out getting involved because, if they did and supported an option or another, they could “come out of it burned”. “.
“We understand that there must be unity, that there must be exclusively a single employers’ association, this is fundamental”, added the president of the CEOE of Castilla y León, who insisted that she does not enter into what she is going to decide.
The merger project, which aimed for a single representation of companies in the province of Salamanca, obtained 89 votes in favor to 104 against, with twelve abstentions.
“The difference in votes was not very great, but we said very clearly that we managed to unify the employers’ associations and that if we did not have the support of our Chamber, we could not do anything,” explained García , also emphasizing he cannot be in any place “where I can only be a palmero”.
García also indicated that he would not run for possible re-election: “Nothing could be further from my expectations,” he assured.
The CES, for its part, regretted the “lost opportunity” through a statement in which it thanked Diego García for his spirit of “negotiation” and assured that “we cannot do more in the face of the refusal of other to continue”. with negotiation.
