Some deputies of the sixth convocation (2000-2024) of the Milli Majlis, whose powers ended in September, received apartments.
The parliamentarians themselves confirmed the information obtained by Modern.az. However, although the deputies who bought apartments accepted the congratulations, they did not want to talk about the subject.
During the investigation, other interesting facts on this topic were revealed. It turned out that some deputies of the 6th Milli Majlis rejected the offer to buy an apartment. They justified it by saying that they don’t need a new apartment because their living conditions are quite good.
But some MPs who have apartments couldn’t say “no” to a new house and wrote a letter and got additional living space.
Thus, among those who bought a new apartment, there are both those who own a house and those who need one.
It should be noted that in previous Milli Majlis convocations, deputies received apartments.
It should be noted that according to the Law on the Status of Deputies of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, deputies can receive accommodation.
Article 26 of said law establishes:
“A deputy who does not have an apartment in the cities of Baku and Sumgait, as well as within the boundaries of the Absheron region, during his term of office will receive a service apartment, and if this is not possible, he will be provided with a financial guarantee . provides for the payment of living expenses in the manner and in the amount determined by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan The housing conditions of the deputy who needs to be improved are improved in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan, the deputy’s permanent place of residence is equipped with a telephone.
