The debate over the elimination of Muface policies is still ongoing. Taking into account the Spanish Government’s proposal to extend existing contracts by nine months in the report “Muface: from private insurance to the national health system” presented by the Ministry of Health, Aragon closed the door on the subject.
The Minister of Health, José Luis Bancalero, described this proposal as “disastrous”: ““It prolongs the agony.”stressed the advisor. In statements to the media before the start of the 50th anniversary event of the Hospital Clínico Universitario, the councilor considered that it is “impossible to plan “What needs are we going to have to cover for these users who are currently covered in Muface by their insurers,” he underlined.
At the national level, it would be transfer a million civil servants which are attached to Muface and the National Health System. The plan presented by Mónica García’s ministry presents it as a progressive transfer.
Bancalero denounced that the Spanish government’s report regarding this extension was consulted through the social networks of the Secretary General, not because the autonomous communities received it.
In the opinion of the advisor, this is a “superficial” report: “This seems irresponsible to me because in this document there is no need for planning neither in human resources nor in infrastructure, which would be necessary,” he explained.
Furthermore, he denounced the fact that the Communities were left aside: “We did not count on the Autonomous Communities to make this decision and the Minister of Health you assume powers that do not belong to you“, reiterated the advisor. Bancalero called on the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Civil Service to negotiate and requested a “exercise of responsibility and real negotiation with these insurers“.
As the advisor indicated, the Ministry of Health claims that it would transfer 2.6 billion euros to cover this removal. A figure lower than that which Aragón estimated a few weeks ago, according to which the removal of Muface would entail an expenditure of 150 million euros to cover the coverage of all those who adhere to this policy.
