Are vegetable oils harmful? – EXPERT DISCLOSURE

Sunflower, corn, soybean, canola, grapeseed and peanut oils don’t have a very good reputation. Many believe they cause many health problems, especially inflammation, while others attribute their harm to competitive marketing. But what is the real truth?

Oku.AzGastroenterologists answered this question in the journal “Food & Nutrition Research.”

According to the authors, vegetable oils are superior to butter and coconut oil for lowering LDL cholesterol, maintaining weight, and controlling inflammation.

“Of course, vegetable oils can cause inflammation, but only under certain conditions. If you consume large amounts of vegetable oils and don’t consume enough fibre, the risk of inflammation increases,” the expert explained.

Doctors recommend giving preference to extra virgin olive oil.

“Olive oil contains beneficial monounsaturated fats and antioxidants, which help reduce inflammation and protect the heart,” the publication notes.
