Argentina asks the ICC to issue an arrest warrant against Maduro

Argentina has asked the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Oku.Az The Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina reported on this matter.

“Considering the deterioration of the situation in Venezuela since July 28 and the commission of new acts that may be considered crimes against humanity, the Argentine Republic calls on the ICC Prosecutor to issue an arrest warrant against Nicolás Maduro,” the ministry said.

Argentina also called for the arrest of other Venezuelan government leaders.

It was added that the protest note will be presented to the prosecutor’s office on September 9.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry believes that the evidence collected is sufficient to review the validity of the aforementioned arrest warrants, the statement said.
