The Armenian Defense Ministry has started negotiations to purchase the “Su-30MKI” fighter and special weapons systems from India.
Oku.Az informs that this information was published by the Avionslegendaires.net portal.
The information indicates that Armenia’s fighter park currently consists of four Su-30SM Flanker-C and about fifteen older Su-25K acquired in the spring of 2019.
The article states that although Armenia ordered Su-30SM fighters from Russia, these aircraft have not been delivered to Yerevan for five years.
“A few weeks after receiving the aircraft in 2019, Armenia ordered eight additional Su-30SMs from Russia. Although up to 70 percent of the contract amount has been paid, no aircraft have been delivered since. The reason is simple: the Sukhoi The company has not produced any of them, and so far the Su-30 aircraft have left the factory for its own needs, it may lose not only its customer, but also its ally,” the author notes in the article.
According to the publication, Iravan, upset with Russia, turned to India and intends to recover the amount paid.
