Armenia insists on arming itself: it appealed to India again

Armenia has called on India to purchase Indian missiles, including indigenous Astra missiles, as well as to possibly upgrade its own Su-30 aircraft.

Oku.AzThePrint reported on the matter.

Defence sources said talks are ongoing and still in the early stages.

It was noted that Armenia is seeking to modernize its air force and is asking India for help in matters such as weapons, ammunition and pilot training.

“The Su-30s operated by Armenia are different from the ones we operate,” the source told ThePrint.

India reportedly operates around 272 Su-30MKI aircraft and has managed to establish local production of some of the aircraft’s components, helping to reduce dependence on Russia for maintenance and spare parts.

It should be recalled that earlier the Armenian media, referring to Sudjan Chino, Director General of the Indian Institute of Defence Research and Analysis, again received 155-millimeter anti-tank missiles from India. ATAGS expressed interest in purchasing artillery installations.

Sudjan Chinoy He also noted that Armenia is interested in the “Pinaka” missile launch systems, worth about $250 million.
