Arrest Putin and put him on trial

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on Mongolia to comply with its obligations under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and arrest dictator Vladimir Putin. Putin’s visit to the country is planned for the next few days, but the media, citing their own sources, write that the leader of the Russian Federation has received “security guarantees.”

This statement was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, August 30.

The ministry said it hopes the Mongolian government will recognize that Putin is a war criminal and that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for his involvement in the abduction of Ukrainian children, a crime that falls under the jurisdiction of the ICC, which Mongolia also recognizes.

“The abduction of Ukrainian children is just one of many crimes for which Putin and other representatives of Russia’s military-political leadership must be held accountable. These individuals are guilty of an aggressive war against Ukraine, atrocities against the Ukrainian people, murder, rape, robbery, bombing of civilian infrastructure, and genocide,” the department stressed.

The Foreign Ministry urged Mongolia to execute the international arrest warrant and hand over Putin to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Mongolia signed the Rome Statute in 2000 and ratified it in 2002. In December 2023, Mongolian judge D. Erdenebalsuren became an ICC judge for the first time for the period 2024-2033.

It is worth recalling that Putin’s visit to Mongolia, scheduled for September 3, will be his first visit to a country party to the ICC’s Rome Statute since the court issued an arrest warrant against him in March 2023.

Earlier, Kursor reported on what Putin is preparing the Russians for in the context of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operation in the Kursk region.
