Valladolid National Police agents arrested a woman who sought out elderly victims in crowded places to steal money and jewelry, frequently using the modus operandi known as “love theft.” .
He even threw one of his victims to the ground and punched him in the entrance to his house, to steal some 2,000 euros that he had withdrawn from the bank.
According to the National Police, the aforementioned criminal technique used by the detainee consists of approaching elderly people, pretending to know the victim, throwing themselves on them and giving them kisses and hugs in a very expansive manner.
At that moment, he takes advantage of the contact with the victim and his weak reaction capacity to steal what he can of his clothes or even to snatch jewelry without the victim noticing.
Likewise, in the case of the detainee, she, with the help of a friend, entered the elderly people’s home without any excuse and approached them on the landing of their house, to gain access. without closing the door.
Then, the other criminal took advantage of a moment of distraction from the victim to enter the house without being seen and steal.
The inmate, for her part, simulated telephone calls to mask the sound of her accomplice opening drawers.
And sometimes she pretended to be a social worker.
Likewise, it should be noted that the perpetrator of the events concealed his physical appearance using makeup that exaggerated certain features, which, added to the cognitive difficulties of the victims, made it difficult to identify him as the perpetrator. events.
However, numerous complaints from elderly people put investigators on the trail of the detainee.
Thus, after carrying out numerous investigations, they managed to identify, locate and arrest the woman in question, accused of one offense of robbery with violence and three others of theft with the modus operandi described above.
The detainee has already been brought before the court, which ordered her release with charge.
