Arrested at the Alcázar de San Juan for seriously mistreating their three-month-old baby

The National Police arrested the parents of a three-month-old baby in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real) for alleged crimes of domestic abuse and serious injuries.

The investigation, opened after notification from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Mancha Centro Hospital in the city of La Mancha, revealed that The minor suffered serious injuries to his skull and spinal cord.the cause of which was not clear at first.

According to the National Police, the investigation concluded that the baby suffered habitual abuse in the family environmentincluding shaken baby syndrome.

This type of abuse can have serious consequences due to the repeated shaking that cause the brain to collide with the skull, potentially causing brain damageretinal bleeding and spinal cord damage, particularly in the neck, due to the vulnerability of the child’s bone structure.
