National Police officers arrested a 29-year-old woman of Spanish origin in the city of Alicante, accused of an alleged crime of attempted murder. The arrested woman, according to investigation sources, attempted to poison her roommate by mixing bleach and ammonia in the drinks the victim usually drank.
The investigation began following a complaint filed by a 43-year-old Spanish citizen, in which he reported injuries sustained following the poisoning of his roommate.
The victim told officers that for a little over two months he had been sharing an apartment with a woman and that’s when he began to notice that the bottles of alcohol and energy drinks that he usually took gave off a strong smell of bleach, suspecting that it was probably this woman or someone else outside the home who had handled them with the intention of poisoning him.
One of the times the victim drank these liquids, she suffered severe headaches and stomach aches although he was not treated by the health services. Following these indications, he installed cameras at his home to confirm his suspicions, the images having been given to officers when he lodged his complaint.
Likewise, he handed over several bottles from which he drank the contents and which were allegedly manipulated and contaminated by cleaning products. The containers provided by the complainant were sent to the Chemical-Toxicological Laboratory of the Central Scientific Analysis Unit of the General Forensic Commission for analysis and study.
Analysis of the contents of the bottles determined that the liquid had been adulterated with a high concentration of bleach and ammonia. Thanks to the efforts made during the investigation and after the results of the toxicology report, the agents were able to confirm that the perpetrator of the events was the roommate of the victim.
Once identified and located, she was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of attempted murder, since the sums provided could have ended the complainant’s life. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the investigating court serving in the city of Alicante.
