Most teachers are not very aware of something that their students mostly know. Artificial intelligence (AI) will put an end to classroom lectures. What almost none of them know is that assessment methods will also change, since they will most likely be largely automated. Will teachers disappear? I don’t think so, but we will soon radically change our mission. I will explain it in summary.
When it comes to teaching, it should be assumed that courses are, in essence, an exposition of content. They may be more or less interactive, but ultimately, as most students expect them and as most teachers teach them as well, they are just a conveyance of summaries of the main aspects of a subject, which students collect through his notes. This has generally been the case so far, with some teachers’ attempts at innovation often failing for a variety of reasons, the main one being teacher and student resistance to change. Ultimately, it is more comfortable to continue as always – even if it leads to disaster, as it does – and human beings generally opt for what is most comfortable.
