Artisans from Castilla y León will have a badge to identify and promote their products

The Junta de Castilla y León will begin the process of designing and distributing a badge that will allow the identification and promotion of artisanal products from Castilla y León inside and outside the Community.

This was stated by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Leticia García, after the meeting held this Tuesday, August 27, with the board of directors of the Federation of Craft Organizations of Castilla y León (FOACAL).

As indicated by the regional executive in a statement, it is a meeting in which they have analyzed the set of measures that are being developed by the ministry to promote crafts in Castilla y León. Likewise, new lines of work have been established to improve the marketing and promotion of craft products of the Community, both those that have a “more traditional” character. these others “more innovative and who flourish under the protection of young people” who join the sector.”

During the meeting, which was attended by the president of FOACAL, Miguel Ángel Tapia; the vice-president, Amaya Barahona; the manager, Félix Sanz, and the general director of Commerce and Consumption, Maria Pettit, the councilor committed to maintain and strengthen support lines on which work is already underway and to intensify actions aimed at improving the marketing and promotion of community crafts.

In this sense, the parties have agreed to launch, as soon as possible, a procedure aimed at designing and promoting a Distinction of the crafts of Castile and Leon which will serve as a mark to identify and distinguish the Community’s artisanal product.

According to the Commission, this distinctive mark, which will also constitute a guarantee that the product purchased has been manufactured by recognised craftsmen, may be used in promotional and communication actions in the business sector and will allow to “highlight” the quality and the particularities handicrafts from Castilla y León.

In addition, García recalled that “in Castile and León, crafts have an important weight in economic and cultural activity, It is a strategic sector, especially in rural areas and is actively present in most economic and cultural activities.

This is why he has chosen to continue the work of modernizing and strengthening the sector, “in close collaboration” with the organizations that represent itnotably with FOACAL as the majority organization.
