“Israel is represented at the COP29 conference with a national pavilion and a large delegation including about 20 companies.”
This was stated in an interview with the newspaper “Report” Asaf Yazdi, director general of the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection.
He said Israel is grateful to Azerbaijan for hosting COP29 at a high level.
“Israel can be part of the solution to climate change, contributing to both mitigation and adaptation,” Yazdi said.
He noted that at the conference about 20 Israeli companies presented their climate projects in the national pavilion of the COP29 exhibition.
“Israel is ready to present its technologies to the world to combat climate change. We also intend to discuss cooperation and joint projects in this field with Azerbaijan in the future. Concrete projects and concrete cooperation will be discussed later with the relevant institutions,” Yazdi said. .
He also highlighted that Israel plans to completely abandon fossil fuels within a few decades. “We are striving to completely abandon fossil fuels and switch to renewable energy sources. Especially solar energy, because Israel has many hours of sunshine a year,” said the CEO.
According to Yazdi, Israel pays special attention to climate financing.
“The main thing in this matter is the work of the Loss and Damage Fund. Our delegation at COP29 intends to participate in the discussions on climate finance, listen to all parties and contribute,” he concluded.
