Aston Martin boss ‘denounces’ F1’s ‘injustice’ with Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso crossed the finish line in sixth position Baku. A result well above expectations. Aston Martin. Before the race, he said the simulation had placed him in twelfth position at the end of the test.

And Mike Krack, his boss, says it’s “unfair” Don’t let what you do be valued because you don’t end up among the best.

“It’s very unfair to be honest, because you have to go down to sixth, but if you look at yesterday, if you look at today, I don’t think the car was really in that position, so we took advantage of the good starting position, but then you also have to bring it home, because you have very fast cars around you,” explains the Aston Martin boss.

“It was very well managed, I think also by the people, on what to do in this situation. We are struggling with the tyres, and coming home was a fantastic achievement, we have had it on several occasions this year, where, there is nothing spectacular in the race, like in Monza, where we were eleventh with Fernando, and it was a good race, but no points or anything” said Krack.

He believes that Fernando made the most of his opportunity: “With the battles that there have been, We had to be in this position, because if something happened, We were able to take advantage of it and we did.”

“To be honest, We were quite worried about the tires before the race.but Fernando managed them very well, and he had something else, when it counted at the end, when everyone arrived with new resources, I was surprised how easy it was to keep them at bay,” says the head of the green team.
