More than 300 NGOs called on developing countries and China on the night of Friday to Saturday, November 23, to leave the UN climate conference in Baku if rich countries do not increase their financial commitment.

COP29 went into overtime on Saturday, after twelve days of fruitless negotiations. Negotiations continued overnight from Friday to Saturday to review the draft agreement published on Friday, which included a first offer from rich states. They have committed to increasing their effort from 100 billion per year today to 250 billion dollars in 2035.
“The intransigence of developed countries”
“We insist: it is better to have no agreement in Baku than a bad agreement, and this is a very, very bad agreement, due to the intransigence of the developed countries”the letter insists.
Representatives from Climate Action Network, War on Want and the Climate Justice Coalition also sent a letter signed by 156 organizations from the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and other developed countries.
