Yolanda Díaz sets a starting point for increasing the minimum wage in 2025: at least inflation. “The mandate is that it does not lose purchasing power,” the second vice president and labor minister said Tuesday. This means that Díaz intends to increase the minimum wage by at least 2.8%, which would increase the SMI from the current 1,134 euros per month to 1,166 euros gross per month.
The Minister of Labor announced this reference at the start of the debate on the increase in the minimum wage in 2025. This Tuesday, the new commission of experts that advises the ministry on this issue began its work, to which Díaz assigned several tasks .
“The mandate of the Commission is no loss of purchasing power. From there, let them work,” replied Yolanda Díaz about the mission entrusted to the specialists by her ministry.
Labor sources say the inflation benchmark they use is “the average for the year”, which currently stands at 2.8%. This indicator is the one used to increase pensions since the reform approved by the government during the last legislature, which again linked the annual increase in benefits to the CPI.
