At least 35 children have died in Israeli bombings across Lebanon, but many more are missing and buried under the rubble, UNICEF, the United Nations agency dedicated to protecting children, said Tuesday.
“Any escalation (of the conflict) would be absolutely catastrophic for all children in Lebanon, especially those in the south of the country and the Bekaa Valley (east),” UNICEF’s deputy representative in Lebanon, Ettie Higgins, said via video call from Beirut.
In a single day of Israeli bombing, that is the number of children killed in the last eleven months, the majority also in incidents linked to hostilities between Israel and the Islamist movement Hezbollah, according to the agency’s count.
