At least two dead and ten injured in the Philippines after the passage of a strong tropical storm

At least two people died and 10 were injured after a tropical storm hit the Philippine island of Luzon, prompting flood warnings for Manila, authorities said Monday.

Storm Yagi, named Enteng in the Philippines, brought torrential rains to the north of the country. and it is expected to make landfall Monday afternoon with sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and maximum gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour, the weather service said.

Flooding and landslides are expected, the entity said in a statement.

For its part, the National Council for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction reported in its first assessment two deaths and 10 injured.

Authorities in the capital have also suspended all classes in the metropolitan area, where there are fears the storm could cause flooding.
